How we calculate this, and our sources
  1. Upfront = price × (1 + tax) + shipping + install + setup parts.
  2. Electricity = kWh/day × 365 × rate, summed per year with the chosen price change.
  3. Running = (filters & chemicals + repairs reserve + bagged ice) × years + membership × 12 × years.
  4. Total = upfront + electricity + running − resale (we always use $0). Per use = total ÷ (uses/week × 52 × years).
  5. Presets use maker list prices read 21 Oct 2026 (S11–S13, S20, S21). Lines marked “our assumption” are editable estimates, not published figures.
