How we calculate this, and our sources
- kWh per session = heater watts ÷ 1,000 × (preheat + session minutes) ÷ 60 × on-time.
- kWh per month = kWh per session × sessions per week × 52 ÷ 12.
- Cost = kWh × your rate. 5-year total adds each year with the chosen price change.
- Preheat defaults: infrared 15 min (most reach usable heat in 10–20 min, S5); traditional 40 min (6–9 kW heaters take 30–40 min, S6).
- “Typical 75%”: one kilowatt-meter reading of a 3-person 15A infrared sauna showed ~1.35 kW against a ~1.8 kW circuit ceiling (S4). Your sauna may differ.

- S2 State rates (from EIA Electric Power Monthly): electricrates.org
- S3 Maker specs: Sun Home · Clearlight · Sunlighten (BIM listing) · Harvia 6 kW = 25A
- S4 Measured draw: Matt Justice, 2020
